Remarrying After Divorce
Life goes on after divorce. As painful as the divorce proceedings may have been, at some point you will have picked up the pieces and moved on. It’s quite possible that, even after your bad experience, there will be a point in time when you once again consider tying the knot.
Building On the Past
Your experiences, however painful they may have been, are what inform who you are. You can’t move forward without acknowledging them, and new experiences will build over the top of the old. Here are some tips for moving forward towards a new marriage:
- Make sure that your previous marriage is completely over, not only in terms of legality and money, but also emotionally. It’s not fair to your potential future spouse to still be living in the past.
- Realize what you did wrong in your previous marriage. If arguments about financial matters caused your marriage to end, approach your new relationship with a straightforward and honest attitude toward money. If it was communication problems that led to your divorce, be especially open and understanding now.
- Get a new start. Don’t let the hurts of the past ruin your new life. Changing houses or towns can help you put the past in its proper place.
- Be positive. Don’t load your future spouse up with the burdens of your past problems. But don’t hide your past from your spouse, either.
